INTRODUCTION

On October 03 2011, the School for Information and Knowledge Systems (SIKS) organizes its annual SIKS-day. The location will be Grand Hotel Karel V in Utrecht.

The main aim of the event is to give SIKS-members, participating in research groups all over the country, the opportunity to meet each other in an informal setting and to inform them about current developments and some new activities and plans for the coming year. You have already been informed that Paul De Bra (TU/e) is appointed as scientific director of SIKS by the Board of Governors for the next three years. He takes over the job from Roel Wieringa (UT) who has held the position for nearly six years. Of course, this important changing of the guard will not go unnoticed at the SIKS-day. We will give all members the opportunity to thank Roel for the important work he has done for SIKS and to welcome Paul. Of course, a small scientific symposium will be organized at the SIKS-day as well.
